Journalists'
Fund of Belarus originated in 1991–1992 following the collapse of the USSR.
It operated officially in Minsk from 1991 to 1997, mass-producing popular
foreign literature (notably the "Hard-Boiled Detective Library" series)
often in paperback format or as anthologies printed on newsprint).
At that time, Howard's Conan stories were published by numerous cooperatives
without regard for copyright; they often appeared under arbitrary or altered
titles (e.g., "Ghosts of Zamboula" instead of "Shadows in Zamboula") and
were bundled into anthologies alongside works by other authors.
"Shadows in Zamboula" was published under this fund's
imprint in one of their science fiction and fantasy anthologies from that
era. The anthology title may or may not have been GHOSTS OF ZAMBOULA.
